Goals

Short Term – 6 months to 1 year
Establishing
  • Mission/ Vision Statements and Values
  • Goals set out
  • Present Proposal for use of ACAD studio space
  • Create Studio Work during the summer (ACAD or somewhere else)
  • Host an event/exhibition/sale late summer, early fall
  • Business Plan : financial plans, marketing strategy, forcasts
  • Bylaws written and adopted
  • Have 10-12 core members in place
  • Hold first general meeting
  • Incorporate
  • Create a bursary for ACAD Fibre Arts student which includes an associate membership
  • Find Capital Money
  • Find and Establish Permanent Space
  • Set out Policies and Procedures for Studio Space
  • Develop website/ blog/ space sign-up system

Mid Term – 1 to 3 years
Developing

  • Develop membership and waiting list for core members
  • Develop classes and outreach/ community interaction
  • Develop exhibition strategy
  • Develop PR strategy
  • Start savings plan for future capital expenses
  • Develop equipment upgrade/ maintenance plan
  • 1 year studio anniversary celebration
  • Develop partnerships with other arts organizations in Calgary and in other cities
  • Develop bulk supply buying for members

Long Term – 3 to 5 years
Sustainability

  • Have long term lease secured (10-25 years)
  • Have a good base of members (200) and a waiting list of 5-10 for core membership
  • Have a year round schedule of classes and community programming
  • Develop artist residencies
  • 5 year studio anniversary
